Nankama World Beat Events (Bobby Bovenzi)

Nankama West African Drum & Dance has earned the reputation for providing  dazzling high energy drum and dance performances throughout the Okanagan Valley. Their performances include opportunities for the audience to join the troupe on stage to drum and dance! The 15-20 member troupe is lead by Master Rhythm Circle Facilitator and Professional Percussionist Bobby Bovenzi, owner of Nankama World Beat Events. They are available for fundraisers, festivals, school assemblies and residencies, private parties and any event wanting to uplift and unite an audience with hands-on interactive activities. 

Nankama is very excited to be a part of this year's Rare Earth Festival and are very thankful to Kath and Andy for their hard work and enthusiasm to create an inclusive interactive festival!

Bobby Bovenzi has performed and studied with several Master Drummers since the early Nineties including Khalid Abdul N'Faly Saleem, Kpani Addy, Mamady "Wadaba" Kourouma, Mamady Keita and Famadou Konate'. He has a Masters Degree is Education and is a co-founder of the Jam Camp Society, a family focused week long music camp held annually for the past 7 years on Mabel Lake, the Shuswap River, Vancouver, Pender Island and in Japan. This year's camps will be held at Christina Lake, Penticton's Shatford Centre, Mabel lake and the Shuswap River Mabel Lake Hall. Bobby is also the Artistic Director of the Okanagan Rhythm Fest, in it's 3rd annual event, it has moved from Kelowna to Penticton, offering percussion workshops in West African, Brazilian, Japanese, Afro-Cuban, Middle Eastern, Frame drum and Rhythm Circle Facilitation training.
